1. What is RIse & Achieve?
RIse & Achieve is a Rhode Island-based organization that provides Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) services to people with disabilities who receive Social Security benefits and are working or exploring work. We help individuals understand how employment affects their benefits and empower them to make informed choices.
2. Who can use your services?
Our services are available to Rhode Islanders with disabilities who receive SSDI, SSI, disabled widow(er)s, or childhood disability benefits, as well as veterans. We also welcome referrals from family members, service providers, and other professionals.
3. What are Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) services?
WIPA services provide personalized guidance about how work will impact your Social Security benefits. This includes a detailed review of your current benefits, available work incentives, and a plan for how to move forward safely and confidently.
4. I’m just starting to think about working. Can you still help me?
Absolutely. You don’t need to be employed to get started. Our Information and Referral Services are designed for individuals who are exploring the possibility of working and want general guidance about how employment may affect their benefits.
5. How much do your services cost?
RIse & Achieve is funded through contracts with the Rhode Island Office of Rehabilitation Services (ORS). Services are typically free to eligible individuals. We will discuss funding and eligibility during your initial contact.
6. What happens after I contact you?
We’ll start with a brief conversation to understand your situation and determine which services are the best fit for your needs. If you're ready for individualized planning, we’ll request some documentation and schedule a one-on-one meeting.
7. Will you tell Social Security if I contact you?
No. Everything you share with us is confidential. We only communicate with Social Security or other agencies with your written permission.
8. Can you help me if I’ve already started working?
Yes! We support people at all stages of employment. Whether you’re working part-time, full-time, or returning to work after a break, we can help you understand how your income affects your benefits and what options are available to you.
9. Do you help with overpayments or appeals?
We provide guidance on overpayments and help you understand your rights and options, including referrals for legal help if needed. We do not offer full representation, but we’ll support you in navigating the process.
10. How do I get started?
You can call, email, or use the contact form on our website to reach out. We’ll respond as soon as possible to schedule an initial conversation and help you take the first step toward your goals.
